What a great start to the New Year. A mild winter and very little snow is making us anxious to get out and start getting ready for the Spring Hunt! We’re excited as we will be expanding further into our exclusive concession with several new bait sites. Once we get into the bush and start prepping sites, stay up to date by checking out our detailed, weekly updates on our blog- The Adrenaline Pulse- at: adrenalineoutfitters.ca

2011 will go down as one of our best years ever in regards to numbers and sizes of bears seen and harvested. This has us pumped up for the upcoming year as well. Speaking of this year, 2012, we have some bad news for our hunters who are looking to book a hunt with us…we are completely BOOKED UP. With so many past guests returning and new guests planning to visit for the first time, we have BOTH of our Eastern and Western camps full for this years upcoming seasons. Hunters still wishing to try their luck ca request to be out on a cancellation list for these hunts. Please don’t wait too long as we already have names being added.

Last Fall we took a couple of great whitetail bucks in our Whitetail Camp! This included a unique, 3-beamed monster during the Archery Season. We still have a couple of openings for 2012 in our Whitetail Camp for archery, muzzle loader or rifle hunters.

2012 will see us hosting more Youth hunters than ever before! We will have 15 youth hunters joining us this year. We’d like to thank the parents/mentors of these youngsters for making the commitment to encourage these hunters on their journey into this incredible lifestyle that we all enjoy.

Looking forward to next year, we have already been taking bookings for the 2013 seasons. Currently there is still room in most weeks for multiple hunters. An unfortunate change in our policy for 2013 is the limiting of our Free Youth Hunt Offer. The program became so successful that we have had to limit the amount of free hunts we are able to provide. From now on, each year will see a limit of 10 Free Youth Hunts. If this is an opportunity that you have been looking forward to please plan ahead. Three of these hunts have already been spoken for in the 2013 season.

We look forward to discussing your future Manitoba hunting plans with you. Please contact us sooner than later to ensure yourself the maximum flexibility with dates and camp locations.

We are looking forward to hearing from you soon. You can also check us out on our Adrenaline Outfitters Facebook Page.

Week 5

Our last week….sad to see it end so soon!! We have John and Chad up with us for the nth time. This year they brought along their buddy Bill. We also had ACM Posse members Robert and Steve up for the 2nd time trying to capture their bear hunt for the next version of Bear’n’Down! Lastly, we had our last youth hunter of the spring up with his dad. Michael and Thomas came up all the way from Louisiana to hunt with us!!

Our first night had everyone into bears and Michael was the first to break the shutout! He took his first bear with a bow (recurve) on the first night of the hunt! He was very excited as that meant he’d be able to hunt with his son (Thomas) for the rest of the week!

He wouldn’t get to spend a lot of time in the stand with Thomas because on Tuesday, they saw the ‘no brainer’ bear everyone hopes to see!! Thomas held his composure and made a great shot on a bear that sits close to the 20” mark! Bill also got into the action and made a good shot with his bow on a bear too good lookin’ to pass.

Wednesday continued to put bears in front of our hunters. John videoed a great bear most hunters would have been shooting at rather than filming. Our Posse guys filmed even more bears, but it was a slow night as far as shooting goes.

Thursday had us switching things up a bit as the rut was winding down. Chad tried out our new version of a ground blind. He had a true giant come in 4 different times over the evening. On the last visit, Chad waited for his opportunity. When it presented itself, his shot deflected and that bear will live to see another season!!

Friday… the last day of the hunt. Our Posse guys grabbed the extra camera and split up. Russ jumped into the stand with Steve to film his evening. They saw 11 bears, but, as Steve has taken several bears in the past, only one tempted him but never presented a clean shot.

Robert grabbed a camera and self filmed his evening. A sow came in and just before he lost camera light, a solid boar came in! Robert flung an arrow into the air, where it landed? Was in a bear.. a great bear and great ending to the week’s hunt.

Robert and Steve combined to see over 25 bears during their hunt. John and Chad went home without bears but both of them had bears of a lifetime with them at under 25 yards!!
Now, to get ready for the fall hunts……..

Week 4

Week 4 is here….Bring on the rut!! And the bugs!! We had 2 father/son teams up with us this week as well as some friends from the Archer’s Choice – Lonnie and Zendall. You may remember Zendall from Bear’n’Down 9 as the young fella who shot at and missed one of the biggest bears ever caught on video. He’s had nightmares for over 2 years about that encounter and was ready to face his demons up here again at Adrenaline!

The first night began with a bang as our father/son team from Texas, Dennis and Keegan, doubled out of the same stand. Keegan was up first and made a perfect shot on his first bear early in the evening with his crossbow! Not to be outdone, Dennis followed that up later in the evening by taking his first bear as well. Dennis was hunting with a compound bow. No other shots were fired that night, but everyone was into multiple bears!

The weather turned foul on Tuesday and sightings were down and no shots taken……but when the weather breaks……

Wednesday night saw our hunters again seeing multiple bears. Our 2nd father/son duo were sitting together. Early in the evening, a bear came in too tempting for Chase to pass. His shot dropped the bear in its’ tracks and he had his first bear!! Later on, after watching more bears, Chuck decided to make it a double as well!! His bear didn’t go far and the morning after pictures were priceless as father and son sat behind their bears from the night before.

Now for our friends from Archer’s Choice…..they were into bears – plenty of them!! 43 in total, as a matter of fact. One evening they saw 15 different bears!! But, as anyone who has tried to film and hunt at the same time can attest, it is not a simple task. Some super bears will live to see another season only because bear-hunter-cameraman could not come together to make it happen. We expect to see Lonnie and Zendall up again to finish the great story they started to lay down on video.

Week 3

Our 3rd week saw some old friends returning and new ones waiting to be made. Our friends David, John and Ray have hunted with us previously and were excited as they new what the week potentially held in store for them. Bob, Rob and Garret were new guests of Adrenaline and we were grateful the grandson, son, grandfather trio chose to spend some time in the woods with us.

Night 1 was busy! 14 bears were seen in total! Bob saw 6, including 1 shooter that unfortunately couldn’t be taken with a clean shot. Rob and Garret walked in on a bear and later on a 2nd bear came in to the bait. At 12, you could hardly blame Garret for getting a little excited. A shot was fired, but unfortunately the bear will live to see another day. John sat a bait and saw a hot sow, but no boar made an appearance while he sat and waited. David had a slow night watching a terrified 2 year old that had been kicked away by mom. We all know what mom was doing, she just didn’t come in with her partner that night. Ray saw 5 bears that evening including 1 we still think he should have shot! As you will see, he made a wise decision!!

Night 2 was miserable! High winds and storm cells moving through the area had bears hunkered down and only 2 bears were seen.

Night 3 had the bears on the move again!! Bob sat a bait that had a 2 year old feeding shortly after getting settled in. It was quite nervous, and we know why – mom came back in and chased it off. Bob showed great restraint by not shooting a large bear, but one he determined to be female. Good decision, shortly after, she bolted for the woods and in walked a shooter bear! Bob made no mistake and his biggest bear was down in 20 yards!! Garret sat patiently til dark, when the only bear they saw approached. But it was the bear they were waiting for, far outsizing the bears they had seen Monday. As often happens, bear fever hit Garret again and that bear ran off unscathed. David sat a bait where 3 bears made an appearance. 1 tempted David, but having shot a bear with us before, wanted to hold out for one just a little bigger. He regretted his decision after the bear left, but by the end of the week, it was a distant memory. John was sitting a bait with quality over quantity. He only saw 3 bears all night – but he saw a bear of a lifetime. The hot sow came in early with a decent boar following close behind. Later, the boar left in a hurry because the ‘boss’ was on his way. Wanting to wait for the perfect shot saved that bear. John held off, and we knew – winds willing – where John would be spending the remainder of the hunt. Ray sat another great bait with big bear sign all over it. We knew when we picked him up over 2 miles from the bait site walking back, that he would have good news for us. He had shot the 5th bear to come in and it was a bomber!! Our first 20″er of the year was down!! 3 shots fired and 2 bears down made for a busy Thursday morning!!

Day 4 had us skinning and putting up our remaining hunters early as weather systems were going to be causing issues for us again. Rob got to sit for the first time as the shooter and at mid afternoon a great boar made the mistake of stepping into his line of fire. The bear was down in 60 yards. John was put up at ‘his’ bait. The hot sow came in early, but then the rains started. Concerned his muzzle loader may not fire, John made the call at 6 pm to sneak out of the bait and work his way back. We’ll never know if it was a good decision or not!! David was moved to a bait to tolerate the new winds. He sat through the downpours that hammered us for most of the day, seeing bears intermittently between showers and complete downpours. Early in the evening, the weather broke and bears were on the move. David had a bear come in that he couldn’t refuse. Just before sunset, he put a perfect shot on a great boar. The bear barely made it out of the bait site going only 20 yards.

Day 5, the last night, we only had 1 hunter left in camp. John sat a new bait as we were concerned with the disruption from the 2 previous sits and wanted to prevent overhunting ‘his’ stand. The new bait was a good choice as he saw either 5 or 6 bears – but with the image of the one he saw Wednesday night still fresh in his mind, he chose to not shoot any of the bears that came in that night. He is already picking his dates for next year!!
